Embarrassing but Funny
July 12th, 2010 Posted 12:34 am
Our one and only couple tee, LOL. I’ll admit that I’m one of those who roll their eyes at couples in matching outfits (nothing against the couples though!)…but I saw these funny shirts along a street in Bangkok and succumbed. They’re amusing right?
BTW, we are only wearing it in public once.

My Perfect Powder
June 9th, 2010 Posted 9:08 am
I hate it when my face feels/look oily, never fails to put me in a grumpy mood. My colleague once asked why I was always blotting my face, and its because oil just gets to my nerves!
My face used to get incredibly oily when I used the wrong foundation (Loreal Angel Fit), or the wrong make-up base (Face Shop). Then I dumped my foundation and switched to using powder foundation or BB Cream and things got much better.
Later on, I started using pressed powder and it was the best quick-fix solution. Put some powder, the oil is absorbed and your skin makeup is touched up. I’m not even particular about which powder I use, alternating between Silky Girl’s Oil-Control Powder and Maybelline’s Clear Smooth Shine-Free Powder… then recently, I ran out of powder decided to try out something different for a change.

Revlon’s New Complexion Pressed Powder in medium beige! I’ve been using it for nearly 2 weeks and I’ve to say that this is the perfect powder! Its smooth and easy to blend onto my skin. Its oil-free and put an end to my oily skin woes- I don’t know what it does exactly, but I now only blot my face once a day, and feel the compulsion to do so much later in the day. Also, its texture is slightly creamy or something, which makes it very hassle-free and clean as I don’t get powder flying all over if I’m not careful. I’m pretty clumsy and drop my make-up compacts pretty often, but this powder has not broke after dropping it twice!
This is my perfect powder. When I need some new powder foundation, I’m definitely giving the New Complexion Powder Foundation a go.
I don’t know if I’ve developed some kind of biased brand loyalty to Revlon, but somehow, I seem to have very few bad experiences with their products…in fact, I remember that the first time I bought liquid foundation on my own, a promoter in Watsons recommended Revlon’s Colorstay to me and it worked better for me than all other foundations I tried subsequently. Their things are slightly more expensive than most regular pharmacy cosmetic brands, but they worked the best and usually, last longer because you don’t need to use half as much!

Fashion Disaster: A Caged Bird Dreams…
June 8th, 2010 Posted 8:42 am
Finally wearing the shirt which Sherry helped me to order from www.threadless.com Yes, the design is called ‘A Caged Bird Dreams’, what kind of name is that?
Doesn’t matter, I love it. Love the colours, especially the sky blue.
And I thought it’d go nicely with the pastal green shorts I bought lately!

Fashion Disaster: Black Dress, again!
June 5th, 2010 Posted 12:37 am
A new black dress for work, from this shop that I love because it sells all its dresses at $28. And they’re of a reasonable quality! I know, black again, as the boyfriend reminds/nags me about all the time…but I think this one is rather unique!
Think its slightly unflattering on me due to my broad shoulders though. Oh well, still <3 it.

Road to High Maintanence
May 25th, 2010 Posted 10:25 am

Lately, I got tempted at some shop at Chinatown (one of those that sell beauty products at much lower prices) and purchased this bottle of hair serum for coloured hair for $16. I must say, I’m very pleased with it- with just a small amount daily-
1. My hair is straighter…okay, I know this is impossible since my hair is already straight. Just the ends fray less since they’re not as dry.
2. My hair is DEFINITELY smoother…I already thought I was blessed with manageable hair, but now it is even more manageable!
3. My highlights are brighter…good thing or bad? Good if you want to preserve your colours I guess.
I used to be pretty no-frills and fuss-free, finding it a chore putting stuff on my face, hair and body. But now, I am actually ashamed to say that I use…
1. Hair serum (as mentioned)
2. Bodyscrub (twice a week)

3. Face Wash (duh, at least I’m not picky about it and use anything)

4. Toner

5. Moisturizer (a different one in the day and night, but well, mainly to use up my old moisturizer. Shall stick to one soon)

6. Eye Roll-on Gell (Bought this for Lennel and I think it does nothing much, but it feels good so I just use it for the sake of it)

7. Body lotion (I’m a convert. Lotion is a useless chore, but feels amazing.)

8. Foot lotion (in my defense, this is ABSOLUTELY necessary for my feet, I swear. Probably more so than all of the above).

9. Face Mask (supposedly twice a week, though I’ve problems finding the patience to do it)

10. Facial mist (I bought the evian one, and it does wonders when I’m tired at work, or just back from walking in the sun)

11. Some peppermint footspray which came free from The Body Shop (I doubt it does anything, it just really does feel good when I’m lying in bed after my shower and my feet is tingling with cool peppermint.)

SIGH! This is pretty criminal, expensive and nonsensical as far as I’m concerned. As long as my skin is relatively pimple/blemish free, I don’t care if it ages coz … we all age anyway right? And it was always relatively pimple/blemish free (besides those periodic outbreaks we all get) even when I didn’t use these nonsense. On top of that,
1. Our grandparents used very few things, and had to age anyway. Might as well accept life as it is and be happy with however you are at that age.
2. I don’t actually care if my hair is wonderful as long as its straight and easy to maintain.
3.I don’t care about my dark eye rings so long as they can still be covered by concealor.
4. I’ve never thought any face mask was a permanant solution to my skin problems besides making it feel temporarily better.
5. I guess I don’t need to look perfect on my wedding day because I’m more concerned about my perfect man.
6. I hate wasting time.
7. Makeup does wonders to anyone, as long as applied with reasonable skill and in reasonable doses. (Let’s not start on the sheer no. of types of makeup I have and wish I had).
I’m not sure which of the above I’m going to give up on, besides the useless items like no. 6 and 11 (when they run out). But I resolve NOT to be tempted to try any other new types of products, no matter how much they promise to change my life. I have ENOUGH and I am sufficiently comfortable with how I look, so I do NOT need them!!!
Besides, I don’t want to become one of those high maintanence girls which guys make fun of, and simply don’t understand.
Poll: Guys, do you actually understand?
PS: Btw, I am quite in love with no. 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 10. LOL

Fashion Disaster: Favourite work earrings
May 19th, 2010 Posted 9:49 am
Wearing the earrings he got from me from Haji Lane.

Love it! Think its simple and classy, perfect for work. The ‘lifted’ top makes it more unique, but not too fanciful.

Colours Galore!
May 17th, 2010 Posted 11:27 pm

I’ve been reading loads about Coastal Scents 88-colour palettes on blogs and such. Having loads of steadily-depreciating USD on hand, I finally decided to do some online shopping and try the regular and ‘warm’ palettes (save on shipping!).
Sidetrack: I am beyond impressed with Fedex. I chose the cheapest International Shipping and it got from Florida to Singapore in THREE days. Bubble wrapped and intact.
There are lots of rave reviews on these eyeshadows, such as this. I absolutely cannot wait to try them out…
Looks like there’s (more than) every colour in the world I could possible need and the best part? Its only about 20+ USD/palette, I kid you not.
PS: This is the THIRD time in my life I’ve ever shopped online in my life, achievement!

Fashion Disaster: Birthday Request
May 14th, 2010 Posted 10:59 pm

Its my birthday and we have a special date, for which he requested I wear my special white dress. Hmm, looks like I put on a bit of weight? (NVM, I’m not easily bothered, haha.)

Tried out a new way of doing ‘smokey eyes’ that I read about on a blog.
Think the earrings and hairband go with the dress!

Fashion Disaster: Scarlet
May 14th, 2010 Posted 9:45 am

I’m not a pink/red person and yesterday was the first time I wore SCARLET to work.
By the way, I had no idea that was scarlet, but I was sure it had a name. So I googled…and found <Name that Color>- a little app created by a guy. He describes it as such:
“Being a typical guy, I have no clue what the colors Lavender and Mauve look like. You can show me Indigo and I won’t know if it’s more like Violet or Purple. So I made this little app where you can create a color on the screen (or copy-paste CSS hex# color) and find out the name of the closest matching color. “

A guy twist to a girl thing, coolness.
