Purple Date
July 8th, 2010 Posted 11:40 pm
She’s back, my purple mouse friend! We’ve always loved purple, but today, I think I realized there’s someone more crazy in the world than me.
In order to have more time, we ate at Tampopo Deli @ Liang Court, right next to my office. We both tried the stone grilled beef curry and it was really really really delicious! Curry + Beef + Cheese + Egg all jumbled together…we loved it and will be going back for more next week!
I’ve been very excited to give her the belated birthday present- the purple DKNY bag I bought! Practical, purple and perfect present for her. She loved it…I think!
Matching bags. =D
She told me this was ‘Part 1′ of my present and ‘Part 2′ would come next week…I looked at it and thought,
‘So many things!!! There is another part?’
I’ve missed her so much and had so much to tell her…I really love how we always feel close even after not seeing/talking for ages. We never drift, never judge, never hide. Looking forward to our second lunch date next week!

Total Cuteness
June 8th, 2010 Posted 8:37 am
During lesson yesterday, my student was acting all restless (as usual). While I was trying to get her to sit still, she said
‘Wait, I forgot to take something!’
I thought she was getting distracted again and was going to take my month’s fee or something, so I told her,
‘No, you sit and play first, later you can go take.’
Later on, she said she was going to the toilet…look what she came back with!
AWW!!!
I always tell her that since I give her stickers when she plays well, she has to give me stickers when she doesn’t practice and misbehaves. So yesterday, I saw the card and said,
‘Two stickers? You’ve only been naughty two times?’
To which she laughed and laughed.

Musings: Speeding Down a Highway
June 7th, 2010 Posted 10:15 am
Time flies. More often than not, living feels like speeding down a highway (old cliche right?), passing many different cars. There’s always something going on, something to do, and usually, there’s something to rush for and little time to stop and stone.
But my life’s also predictable- a long straight highway. Every week, I work, practice piano, teach, run have Lennel-days, go out on some evenings, and it repeats itself. But hey, I’m enjoying the routine most of the time. I enjoy familiarity, I enjoy predictability and more importantly… I like it that there’s always something waiting for me to do. Its boring, but very exciting to me- too much time doing nothing makes me feel unsafe and empty.
I think the the biggest unknown is which exit to take to get off the highway (well, if I were really driving, that will definitely be a huge question mark). I don’t know how long the balance will last, and in someone else’s words, ‘You mean, you don’t know how long you can sustain your double life.’ But hey, I don’t really care, because I’m enjoying everything that’s happening and sometimes, it pays to live for the moment. I really do treasure this moment in time- the people, the routine, the work- I love them.
One year ago, I taught just 4 students and found it to be exhuasting to handle on top of a full time job. But that was easy to get used to, and soon I needed something more. Now, I’m teaching 8 students…I thought it’d be really tiring, but actually, it turned out to be not that different! With more students, given any random week, the chances of having 1 or more students cancelling lessons due to exams/illness/holidays/etc seem exponentially higher- so I rarely actually teach 8 students a week, lol. So things do work out, how lovely. =D
I’m trying my best to work on sleeping on time.

Shoe Day!
June 6th, 2010 Posted 2:17 am
Its finally Saturday, Lennel day! This week, we planned to get me some new running shoes. Can’t live without running shoes! And I was determined to hunt down some nice and comfortable purple shoes from Queensway…
…and ended up buying NEON PINK shoes. O M G. I don’t hate pink, but pink is so not me, especially hot neon pink! And I find these shoes WEIRD and FUGLY. The design is weird and the colours are fugly. So what went wrong?
For once, I chose fit and comfort over design- the Nike Lunarlite Elite. I was told that this was light and suitable for long distance running…(marathon rem?), and it was also comfortable for my high-arch feet. All the Lunarlite shoes were ugly, at least the female ones. I was deciding between this and another purple pair…
In the end, the decision was made by Lennel, who felt that I could afford to have some girliness (i.e. pink) in my life. In fact, he decided upon that much earlier because…

He b ought me the pink Nike Sportsband! He arrived at Queensway earlier than me and went to get it for me first as a surprise. <3! I was very surprised he chose pink over the dark grey and blue ones, but there’s nothing to complain about… sponsored sportsband!

*slight sigh* My pink shoes! Cannot believe I’ll be in them everyday for the next year at least … I must say, they do seem to live up to their reputation of being very comfortable. Cannot wait to try it with the sportsband!
Failed attempt to look real spunky and sporty.
After getting my shoes, we had a walk around Ikea (such a couple thing to do!), and then Anchorage…
I was eyeing this pair of deep purple heels from Charles and Keith since last year, but they didn’t have my size at every outlet I checked. And I found it today in my size…the best part? They were on the discount rack!
<3 wearing high heels! Who said tall girls can’t wear heels? I think tall girls should love wearing heels – long legs look even longer!
No more shoes!
3rd Surprise
May 13th, 2010 Posted 2:55 pm
3rd of 3-in-a-day.
I got home exhuasted from the day’s activities when I saw an envelope peeping out from my box at the letter table…I saw the addressee and I instantly knew what it was.
A birthday card from Kimmy Mouse in Australia! Only she will call me Mouse Wei Lee, put dog tape at the back, and thank the postman!
Love the purple card! She said she knew she had to get it for me the moment she saw it. She knows me best, my best friend.
I miss her loads and cannot wait for her to come back next month. Her birthday is in May too and I have the most awesome purple present waiting for her.
Thanks mouse. You’re the best! =D

Birthday Came Early!
May 9th, 2010 Posted 12:46 am
I was dying to know what the mysterious birthday present which I had to make myself was, and as usual, Lennel heightened the anticipation by telling all my friends to tell me they already knew what it was. So I got sms-es from friends telling me they knew about it all the way…
Turns out we were going to Jamal Kazura Aromatics at 21 Bussorah Street to customize my own alcohol-free perfume! Technically, you can choose the scented oils which you want, and they will blend it for you, but we were encouraged to look at the ready-made scents and mix 1 or 2 to avoid disastrous nose-murdering combinations.
So many scents to choose from! The ‘Eiffle’ was my favourite- coincidence since I was wearing my ‘Paris’ stuff.

You pick your scent, and then the bottle. The price of your perfume depends on the size/type of bottle.

There were so many ready-made feminine scents and I didn’t know where to start! Got one of the staff to recommend me some floral scents instead…

I smelled so many different smells that my nose was numb. On top of that, I spilled a bottle of perfume (not surprising) and my whole hand was drenched in so much perfume that it smelt like bad soap. My nose was ruined after, LOL.

But still, I settled for 3 ready-made perfumes: Eiffle, Moon Dance and Jade.
I couldn’t decide whether I liked my scents mixed or on their own, so we bought an extra bottle and mixed some of Eiffle with Moon Dance by ourselves- now I’ve my own Squareberry scent!
It was indeed a most original, surprising birthday treat. I never would have guessed what he was planning! To think I just blogged about my neverending supply of perfume lately…
From Left to Right, the spare bottle to mix my scents, the 3 scents and…
I didn’t exceed my shopping budget, so he got me two pairs of earrings too. It was such a tough call between the cute little chairs (described by him as ‘whimsical’) and the silver pair (described by him as ‘classy work earrings) and my very kind bf handed both to the cashier before I could stop him, hee.

We find the chair completely amusing!
Proud and happy (???) sponsor.
<3 him not for the money he spends on me (not a lot k, lol!), but for always trying to make things special. =D
Fashion Disaster: Blue Friday!
April 23rd, 2010 Posted 9:42 am
I’ve a piece of good news to tell everyone- IT IS FRIDAY TODAY!
And on this happy Friday, I decided on a new phrase- ‘Hap-Snap’, shortform for Happy Snappy!
And I’m in happy shade of blue today! (Whoever said blue was made for Mondays at work?)
And I’m finally wearing one of my favourite, but severly under-used earrings today. It’s called ‘Paris in Spring’, according to the blogshop I bought it from years ago.
Close up peekture.
I’m in a good mood. =D
PS: I’ve also added a new category to my blog- ‘Berry’s Nonsense’- haha!

Universe of Fun
April 19th, 2010 Posted 2:37 pm
Dad got 50% discounted tickets to visit Universal Studos on 18th April and bought them for the entire family. It also meant that he ran into his boss and many colleagues at the park…
So I went with my family- [left to right] Ren Hao, Ren Xiang, Dad, Mum, Liza…
and his family! [from right] Lynn, his mum, him!
It’s been about two years since I’ve been to a proper theme park; the last one was Disneyworld + Universal Studios Adventure Land in Florida and they set the bar way up there… and when I stepped through the gates, I was quite awed! The place was pretty, and very very clean…
I’ve to say, the whole park was the cleanest theme park I’ve ever been to, considering the crowd… I guess that’s what Singapore is good at, even if we’ve a smaller park, less rides, narrators with strange accents, and NUMEROUS rides being closed for maintenence. On top of the two rides that are closed, at least 2 rides were temporary down while we were there.
At Magadascar Land (I think it was called that)…love this family photo!
And then, there was the ‘move it’ dance. It was way cute, see video:

Aww, love the penguins! My favourite was the lion though, see the photostream below for pictures with lion and I.
Far Far Away Land. In front of Shrek’s Gorgeous castle.
Lynn at Jurasic Park. We went on the Jurassic Park ride (the one on a raft splashing down a slope)…it was not bad, and the ride down a dark dark dark tunnel was freaky… but the ‘drop’ was a complete letdown- only 1 storey, could barely feel it. I guess its the anticipation building up…
Mummy Land…this was very majestic, very nicely done- a stark contrast from the rest of the Park. Dad, Brothers, Lynn, Liza and I went on the Return of the Mummy rollercoaster adventure… it was AWESOME! I think I freaked Lynn out with my screaming…haha, I love rollercoasters because I love freaking myself out. Liza and I even went on it twice.
Doesn’t this remind you of the the famous stone monuments of 4 ex-presidents of the United Sates?
Waterworld! This was a show, with lots of running, water stunts, fire, water guns, and explosions. I felt quite fearful for the cast…
Him: ‘The only female actress quite hot…’
We were at the ‘Splashing Zone’ and lots of people whipped out umbrellas as the cast threw/sprayed/poured water at us. Shall add in a photo when I find it, a pretty damn hilarious sight!
’New York City’ and Hollywood (The signs said: Population- Glamourous)
There were no rides here, and we just watched a Steven Spielberg Effects show…but this was my favourite part. New York City, loved it! Took lots and lots of pictures…
Another family photo that I love.
It’s my/ our(???) dream to go to New York City together…*wistful* =D
Happy girl on the streets of NYC…
He was very excited went he saw the vintage car models (his aim in life is to own one) on display and so was his mum, who urged him to go pose for more shots.
Woody Woodpecker. Lynn and Lennel were very excited to see him, and even got a WW lunchbox during lunch, but I’ve no idea who he is…
His mother found this Betty Boop in a BB store, found it very cute… and bought it for me, using up Lennel and her $5 shopping vouchers. Touched, and quite ‘paiseh’.
There was A Hershey’s Chocolate World outside Universal Studios and I was quite excited. The last one I saw was in Times Square, next to the M&M’s World store…
Hoho, bought loads of calories. The 3 ovalish things (Milk Duds, Reeses and Peppermint Patties prints) are spectable cases, only $3! Gave one to mummy too.
I wanted to get myself a Betty Boop T-shirt with my $5 shopping voucher, but decided to top it up with a few dollars to get him the Return of the Mummy keychain. The print in front (not shown here) is scary, but also cool…to thank him for patiently walking around in the sun and taking pictures for me, his family and my family.
More photographs, enjoy looking!
It was a pity that Battlestar Galatica was closed, but its ok… I’ve been on it before, plus… $38 tickets for weekends are more than worth our money! And the queue would probably have been eternal… wanted to go on the Jurassic Park Canopy Flyer, but the queue was 60 minutes and never got shorter, so I gave it a miss.
I had a wonderful day. Hot, tiring, sweaty, but it was a lovely day, spent with him and our families. =D I think theme parks lose their magic if you go too often, so I’d probaby visit again in 2 years or so… though i might just pop by the Souvenir Store/Hershey’s Store outside…
After my Dad got us tickets, he told me he was planning to bring me as a surprise on my birthday (and force himself to take the scary rides). Aww…but its okay, he has dinner planned and I’m sure we’ll have a sweet time.
